I just read Jason Rantz’s article and… holy shit, this is next-level unethical.

Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes — you greedy, self-serving motherfucker — actually took $2,000 in recruitment bonuses for hiring two people he personally referred. Let me repeat that: the guy already making $360K a year just gave himself a finder’s fee.

And Yvonne… damn. I really, truly didn’t think you’d go there. But I guess I should’ve known better. You grabbed your own $1,000 for referring the same guy. This is the same Yvonne who scrubbed the internet of that photo of her wearing a spiked dog collar around her neck, so yeah… maybe the warning signs were always there. 🚩

This isn’t leadership. This is legalized grift with a badge on it. City Council rubber-stamped the whole thing so they can claim it’s “policy,” but you and I both know this is just another way to siphon money out of the public’s pocket.

Meanwhile, you’ve stacked the department with your handpicked circle, jacking executive salaries to $1.38 million a year while Seattle is staring down a $150 million deficit. Other departments are being told to cut 8% of their budgets—translation: screw community programs—but somehow, there’s always money for your referral bonuses and bloated paychecks.

When reporters asked if your golden hires also scored the $50K lateral bonus, SPD pulled its classic dodge: file a public records request. We all know that’s code for stall, bury, and hope the public forgets. Mayor Harrell? Not a damn word.

Most of the ethical officers left this city a long time ago. What’s left is the snake pit 🐍 — leadership slithering around in the shadows, feeding on taxpayer dollars, and pretending it’s “for the greater good.”

You’re not public servants. You’re just grifters who figured out how to do it with a press release and a smile.
