The End of the Splashy Season: A Salty Goodbye to the Sweetest Swim Crew
And just like that, another summer of swimming lessons has come to an end. My heart is full—and maybe just a little bit soggy—from watching this incredible group of kids grow, splash by splash, since last summer. They came in with excitement, nerves, determination, and zero floaties (because let’s be clear—there are no floaties and no nose-plugging allowed in my class). And they followed every rule like little champs.
This crew—Rad, Lane, Reese, Dallas, Cara, Riggen, June, Jade, Brynlee, Marvin, Rhett, Rustin, and Ari—completely stole my heart. Every one of them made huge strides in the water this year. Some went from hesitant toe-dippers to cannonball legends. Others mastered floating, gliding, rhythmic breathing, and yes—even going under in high-density salt water. That pool is no joke—getting to the bottom of Lori’s pool is practically an Olympic event!
Speaking of Lori’s pool—it’s seriously the best. Warm, clean, welcoming, and just challenging enough to push these kids to greatness. That dense salt water teaches control, balance, and bravery in the best possible way. It’s the perfect setting to build not just swim skills, but confidence that spills far beyond the pool deck.
To the parents—you’ve raised some amazing humans. These kids are kind. They’re respectful. They’re generous with their encouragement and support. They showed up ready to work and ready to grow. I couldn’t be prouder to have been a small part of their journey.
To my sweet swimmers: I’m going to miss your smiles, your jokes, your bravery, and your willingness to try even when it was tough. I can’t wait to hear what your school year brings—you’re all destined for great things.
So, to the Super Secret Speakeasy Swim Class of West Richland… thank you for showing up, following the rules, and trusting the process. You’ve earned every bit of progress you made, and money that you earned at ‘the bank’! I’ll be right here cheering you on—whether you’re diving into a pool or into life.
💙 Until next summer,
Jessica
